A NOTE FROM BOARD OF DIRECTORS PRESIDENT BRIAN WILLIAMS

Aug 26, 2024

Dear Members and Partners,

As Board President of the New York Association of Training and Employment Professionals for the past 5 years, I have had the honor to serve you - our members and partners - in ensuring NYATEP provides the voice, knowledge, and progress of a comprehensive, robust workforce development system in New York State. Over my tenure in this role, there have been many celebrated successes, as well as challenges, including the painful cancer journey and loss of our beloved executive director, Melinda Mack. Under Melinda’s leadership and beyond, one constant has remained; a steadfast commitment to NYATEP’s core values; voice, knowledge, and progress in service of New Yorkers in need.

We now look ahead to the next chapter for our organization.

I am excited to announce the appointment of Christopher Nardone to the position of Executive Director at NYATEP. The NYATEP Board of Directors believes strongly in his ability to lead, his history of building results-driven strategies, and that he will have a positive impact on the incredible work that NYATEP already provides.

I would also like to take this opportunity to highlight and thank Therese Daly for her interim leadership of the organization. Through her leadership, and the unwavering support by the entire NYATEP staff, the organization continued to grow and thrive through a very turbulent time. We are thrilled to have her remain at NYATEP to support the incredible projects, and initiatives the staff have been working on and will continue to do so in this new chapter.

I recognize that the news of this transition following a decade of Melinda Mack’s leadership is bittersweet, but please know, the NYATEP you have come to depend on is not changing its course. We believe that Christopher and the team are poised to support New York’s workforce system without interruption.

The official transition will take place in mid-September. In the interim, please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Brian J. Williams, Board President
