Elevate your advocacy skills with NYATEP's Workforce Academy for Policy & Advocacy! Join colleagues from across the New York State workforce ecosystem to collaborate on policy development and ongoing advocacy.

Through this academy, the New York Association of Training & Employment Professionals (NYATEP) aims to create an informed, coordinated base of advocates to educate policymakers about the role of workforce development in communities and the critical importance of federal, state, and local policy that is reflective of local organizational needs and best practices.

ABOUT THE ACADEMY

This five-month intensive, informative, and fun academy will guide you through the ins and outs of the Federal and State political, legislative, and budgetary processes and provide a candid take on New York politics.

This year’s Workforce Academy for Policy & Advocacy will be hybrid, providing 25 fellows from across New York the opportunity to participate both virtually and in-person at NYATEP’s headquarters in Albany, New York.

To date, NYATEP’s Workforce Academy for Policy & Advocacy has trained over 280 professionals from 120 organizations across New York State.

HOW IT'S STRUCTURED

The Academy includes a series of required in-person and virtual seminars with leading experts and legislative visits to provide an opportunity for the participants to utilize their learning.

Fellows will work in groups to develop a Policy Brief that will be presented at the program's end.

The Academy will culminate in a Completion Ceremony where participants will present their policy briefs to attendees while reflecting on their experience in the program and how they will utilize the information gained to advance workforce development within New York State.
